Budget Solutions

As chronic pain patient you are probably used to medical treatments, pain  or other medication, food supplements, changes in diet, non-medical-treatments like yoga, breathing techniques, hypnosis or anything else. Most of these cost buckets full of money. But what can you as chronic pain patient DO yourself to change the intensity of your pain? And which of these pain-reduction techniques are available if you are living on a tight budget. These are the so-called budget solutions. The little things in life that you can apply right now to reduce your pain and that will cost you nothing or only a little.

Main Benefits

Even if you have little or no money that you can afford, you can still reduce your pain. These are the pain reduction techniques on a small budget. It is hard to categories them, and no matter what choice I make, someone else always has a better idea. So I chose to create 4 categories: hormonal, nutrition, physical and emotional. If one budget-solution fits more than one category, you will find it in both. Did you not find your budget-solution of you have a great idea for a new budget-solution than please contact me through the contact-form.

Right Now

No waiting list for the budget-solutions. You can start whenever you want. You can start right now. Just pick the one that appeals most to you and get going.

At Home

No travel costs, no transport needed. You can work from your own home, at your own time and your own convenience.

Small budget

No money to spend? Don't worry, with time and discipline you can reduce your pain and reach your goals. You can manage your chronic pain if you set your mind to it.

Hormonal

The hormonal system of chronic pain patients is usually out of balance. It tips over to the chronic stress hormones like Adrenalin, Noradrenalin and Cortisol. In most pain patients there is a shortage of the feel-good hormones like Oxytocin, Melatonine and Serotonine (the girls of the feel-good-club Oxy, Melany and Sero). In this unit you will find budget-solutions that help you create more feel-good-hormones.

Nutrition

Your gut is very important. Not only for digesting food, but also for your immune system and of course your gut-instinct. You are what you eat. It turns out that several chronic pain patients have problems with their gut, their intestinal flora, food-allergies or food-intolerances or weight issues. Science has also shown that chronic pain has a degenerative effect on the intestinal wall and our immune system. So any budget-solution on nutricion, belly, intestines can be found in this section.

Physical

It is necessary to get into motion. To start doing physical exercises. This can be scary, for we are used to gymnastic exercises and we-chronic pain patients- usually can't do those exercises. But there are many forms of physical exercise, and many forms to get your body into motion. All you need to do is be creative and find the type of motion that fits you and your current physical ability. This can also be motor-imagery: this means imagining that your body is going through a certain motion before you actually physically do it. So don't be scared and check out  this category. These are the budget-solutions concerning physical activity, getting into motion, or a physical exercise.

Emotional

Emotion is E (energy) in motion. When we get stressed we are supposed to do something: fight, flight, fright. But these days we sit at our desk feeling stressed and these feelings can't go anywhere. We suppress our emotions. Yet emotions are the key to our memories and with that a key managing our chronic pain. And it is easier than you think to tap into your emotions and make them beneficial instead of destructive. In this categorie you will find everything that has to do with your emotions, your senses and your limbic system. Because your senses and emotions are very strongly connected.

Education

Even though education is an important part of the six-step ACCEPT-method, education was not part of the budget-solutions. However it turns out that quite a lot of information that you can use to change your lifestyle from victim of chronic pain to director of your own health is educational. Therefor a new category of education has been created to make it easier for you to find these articles.

Other

The categories I chose are completely arbitrary. So there are bound to be budget-solutions that do not fit the description of any of the other categories displayed. You will find those budget-solutions here.

About the Author

‘Only those people who have suffered from chronic pain truly understand its impact on ones life’, says chronic pain expert, Caroline Hoogerwerf.

As the result of a back injury, she has been a chronic pain patient for over 9 years. During this time she has been on a waiting list for treatment for more than one and a half years. Caroline has been sent from pillar to post, discovering mistakes in her file and many other issues along the way. She has tried countless therapies to overcome her pain; and through her efforts, discovered remedies she could take into her own hands.

Tools she wishes to share with others.

Caroline has a degree in biology and works as sports massage therapist, sensi-therapist, and breathing coach, which has allowed her to regard chronic pain through the lens of both patient and therapist. Through her work, she bridges the communication gap between a doctor and a patient. What questions does your doctor ask you? What should you tell your doctor and what shouldn’t you tell him or her? How can you prevent mistakes in your health records? And how do you own your pain and take the control of your healing process into your own hands? Because of her experience as a chronic pain patient and through the experiences of other chronic pain patients, Caroline puts her finger on the weak spots and offers healing solutions.

It is Caroline’s mission to help chronic pain patients to become the director of their own health and take pain reduction into their own hands.
